Many weather forecast agencies around the world use the GFS weather model from NCEP and sometimes other forecasters create something which is pretty darn beautiful and the guys at Windyty have done just that.
The data in the charts is exactly the same data which you see on Metcheck, however using the streamline model you can view loads of weather variables on a chart with lovely squiggly wind arrows moving around.
It goes without saying that we owe huge thanks to the guys at Windyty as well as Cameron Beccario at Earthschool as well as developers at leaflet, ESRI, all who work tirelessly to make weather data beautiful and free.
The variables you can select are :-
Surface Wind Speed - Wind speed/direction at 2m above ground Surface Gust Wind- Wind gust speed/direction at 2m above ground Storm Dir/Speed - Wind speed/direction at 8000m Surface Temperature - Temperature at 2m above ground Clouds / Rain Jet Stream - Wind speed/direction at 250mb
You can use the range slider to select any date out to 240 hours in the future in 3 hour intervals.

Whoah! How clever is this? The Metcheck Thunderstorm Tracker Satellite allows you to see the developing storms across Western Europe and tells you whether they are growing or decaying. Every 15 minutes we take a snapshot of the cloud cover then measure the temperature and height of the clouds and show you whether the area of clouds are developing into thunderstorms and what direction they are moving in.

You probably hear a lot about the Jet Stream in the news. It's either too far North or too far South. The jet stream is identified as winds at 300mb (during Winter) and 200mb (during Summer). It is these winds which are responsible for driving and developing weather systems across the Atlantic.
