The weekend sees a continuation of the rather cool and changeable weather as an area of low pressure tracks eastwards across England and Wales today before further frontal systems push into the west tomorrow ahead of another rather changeable week next week.
We start this morning with that low over Ireland bringing a dull and damp start to the day in many areas as outbreaks of rain and drizzle make their way north and east across much of Britain and Ireland, although it is a dry start towards the northeast of Scotland. The far northeast may, in fact, remain dry for much of today with some bright spells at times, but elsewhere it will remain mostly cloudy with further rain at times. There is also a risk of some of that rain turning more showery this afternoon, which could bring some heavy and thundery downpours across central and southern regions. Temperatures will be on the cool side for early June, with maximum temperatures mainly in the range of 14°C to 18°C, but perhaps a degree or two higher in any brighter spells that do develop this afternoon. It will also be windy towards the south and southwest of the country, especially around coasts and hills, but these winds will tend to ease later on today.
Later this afternoon, conditions will turn largely dry over Ireland with some sunshine and these drier and clearer conditions will extend to many areas this evening and tonight as that low clears away to the east with the blustery winds in the south also easing. However, it won't be long before the next band of cloud and rain moves into the west and northwest and this means a rather cloudy and wet spell for many western and northwestern regions tomorrow, but it will be brighter and a touch warmer towards the south and east of the UK.
