Iain
Walsall
reported

Iain's Report is from Walsall

Hi folks. Report for Sunday: the morning was cloudy, but it stayed dry, and the afternoon saw a few sunny intervals, before we were hit by a light shower, as forecast, around 17:00. However, the rest of the evening was not dry, as had been forecast, but rather wet with spells of rain, some of which was heavy enough to produce large puddles. The rain died out after 2300 and there have been some clear spells since, but of course everything outside is very damp, lots of condensation on the cars etc.

Stats at 04:45: dry bulb 10.9C: wind N force 2: cloud 4/8 Ac: pressure 1016 mb, rising.
Maximum: 14.9C / 1016 mb
Minimum: 8.7C / 1014 mb
Forecast pic: cloudy
In the study: 18.9C / 56%
Rainfall 24 hours to 09:00 Sunday: 0.3 mm (estimated 2 mm since then).

So, how about this housekeeper job, then, KAY? CHRIS and I want to know when you can start, and do you have references? Lol! (It's all right for you down in Honiton, CHRIS, but I'm dangerously near to KAY's daughter up here and she's liable to appear in Walsall at any moment!!).

Meantime it's flapjacks for breakfast this morning, CHRIS!

I'd like to homologate (there's a good word!) what MIKE from Ballycastle and others have said regarding place-names and postcodes - I did make the plea a couple of days ago but it has largely fallen on deaf ears. I think Metcheck must ask you for the first part of the postcode when you start reporting. I have resorted to googling the postcodes to find out where they are: JOHN in Trusthorpe, PE21 is Boston.

Happy Monday all, especially those starting a new working week, Iain.

Chris's Report is from Honiton

Good Morning from Honiton.
Another chilly start or so it seems like it, we've been so used to those milder mornings of the past.
Mostly dry today but there is still a possibility of some heavy showers drifting in from time to time so be aware of these, otherwise sunny spells for this Monday.
Have a good day folks.

Simon
AB56
reported

Simon's Report is from AB56

Good morning.
Yesterday's weather, locally, defied the forecasts and stayed cloudy all day. We had a spell of drizzle late morning which dampened things down somewhat but no rain. The winds remained northerly or possibly north westerly at an estimated ten to fifteen mph until early afternoon then backed off to at most a light breeze.

This morning we wake to overcast skies, 100% cloud cover and a light breeze.

Reading through yesterday's reports I see some discussion ref post codes. I was only asked for the first half of my post code when giving details just a few days ago. AB56 covers part of the Moray coast and inland areas around Buckie situated approximately mid way between Inverness and Fraserburgh. I am situated in a village East of Buckie named Findochty, pronounced Finechty, on the coast. Locally the weather has a tendency to defy the forecasts. My suspicion is that having the sea in front and hills behind creates a micro climate, but that could be totally wrong. Prevailing winds are normally westerly but when the winds are easterly it can get very cold especially in the Autumn and winter.

Good morning from the south coast. After a misty start the sun is burning off the mist or causing it to rise as low cloud. At the moment the South Downs, being higher than my house, are still covered in mist/low cloud.

Whoah! How clever is this? The Metcheck Thunderstorm Tracker Satellite allows you to see the developing storms across Western Europe and tells you whether they are growing or decaying. Every 15 minutes we take a snapshot of the cloud cover then measure the temperature and height of the clouds and show you whether the area of clouds are developing into thunderstorms and what direction they are moving in.

You probably hear a lot about the Jet Stream in the news. It's either too far North or too far South. The jet stream is identified as winds at 300mb (during Winter) and 200mb (during Summer). It is these winds which are responsible for driving and developing weather systems across the Atlantic.
